History of the Skala Ecovillage

Key dates

1991–1998: Investigation of ecovillage models, local community building and formation of planning community

1998:  Property acquired

1998–Present: Orchards and gardens established, expanded and cultivated using natural farming practices

2004:  First house built

2008–Present: Ecological and community building gatherings, summer camps, and training sessions occur on the land for Greek and international participants

2010:  Additional houses constructed

2011:  Permanent establishment of community living on the land

2016:  Population of the community reaches eight adults and four children

2017:  ___ gatherings and training sessions are held at Skala include a memorable workshop among peace-seekers from Israel, Palestine and other countries

2018:  Current population of the community is three adults and two children
